The Lone Jello

I was getting out of my car at Costco yesterday (my best friend, free soda at Costco), in the rain-ish weather, all alone because my usual momfriend Costco pizza eating buddy was cleaning up blood off the floor of her gramma's apartment (just a small head injury, a little slip and fall, some staples at Urgent Care, no trouble really). But because Gramma had bad footing, I had to be alone at Costco, and I got out of my car and in the little empty car next to me I saw an oasis. It was just an average car. There was a well-used baby seat in the backseat of the car. On the armrest up front by the driver, there was an open tiny container of orange jello, smooth untouched surface, with a clean spoon just resting on top. Something just struck me as funny, and I took a crappy picture with my crappy cell phone which just pretty much showed rain and my reflection in the glass. But there wasn't even a kid or a mom in the car, and yet there was this snack, a perfect jello cup, with a spoon, just waiting there. A mom, armed and ready even when she wasn't there yet. Totally ready for later. She knew herself. She knew her kid. I know that mom might never read this, but I wanted to say you are amazing, moms out there. You are right in the middle of it and you know your stuff and it shows. You are an army. That smooth yellow jello, hello, I am in your ranks, I'm knee deep in the mud too, I see you and you are making a difference.
