Happy Dr. Seuss Day

Nathan read on the internet that people are happiest at 7:26 on Saturday nights. He said, "and that's true, too because that's when we were watching Shakespeare in the driveway." (our neighbors rehearse their Shakespeare and we get to drag cushions over to watch.)

I asked him if he understood what they were saying in the plays, and he said not really. All those thees and thous. But he said he gets an idea.

And that makes me happy - Shakespeare - language - great writing - my kids listening - free parking - so I'm happy now, at 11:38 a.m. on a Thursday. That's twice happiness, because I'm not even to Saturday yet.

And I got to take green eggs and ham into Lilly's class for Dr. Seuss Day, and listen to the kids dressed in their pajamas as they told me about their stuffed animals that they brought. One kid introduced me to his Sponge Bob pillow and told me that he was really good for staring contests. Nothing like wearing my own stripey pajamas and listening to a 6 year old tell me about the special skills of his favorite stuffed animal. Happy again, 11:43. Happy when he was telling me, because it was so funny and weird, at 8:23 a.m., and now happy remembering it. This is alot of happiness, and happiness doesn't mind if you repeat it by remembering it. It's even better repeating it.

Mark down your happy moments today - I bet you might find them at a stoplight wiggling your toes in your shoes, or when you pick up a phone and realize that you know how to talk to someone who isn't even there.

The whimsey of Shakespeare, Dr. Seuss, and you.
