Yesterday we had lots of family over because it was hot and we had the swimming pool. It's been an extended summer here in LA, and yesterday was the day I had waited for for so long. After a whole year of having a big fat horse in the yard, hoping she'd turn out to be safe to put the kids on, and then selling her because she wasn't - finally yesterday, we had a pony here that was safe to put the kids on.
We had five kids that got to climb aboard Waffles, and Waffles was good to them. Nathan and Audrey got to ride by themselves and learn to steer. I got to watch confidence dawning on their faces. Joy and confidence. It's a mom's happiest combo. It made me feel victorious.
